Worlds 2021 Is Confirmed to be Held in Iceland

RIOT Games have confirmed that the upcoming 2021 World Championship will be held in Iceland’s capital, Reykjavík. The event will take place from October 5th to November 6th.

While the organizers have not confirmed the event’s venue, it is likely that it is Laugardalshöll Indoor Sporting Arena, which earlier this year also hosted Mid-Season Invitational and VALORANT Masters. Recently we reported that the event will likely be split into five stages: Play-In (October 5th – 9th), Group Stage (October 11th – 18th), Quarterfinals (October 22nd – 25th), Semifinals (October 30th – 31st), and Grand Finals (November 6th).

Initially RIOT Games wanted 2021 Worlds to take place in five Chinese cities, however later decided to relocate the event to Europe due to international travel restrictions. The list of confirmed participants looks as follows:

  • Group Stage Teams: Edward Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, Royal Never Give Up, DAMWON Gaming, Gen.G, T1, MAD Lions, Fnatic, 100 Thieves, Team Liquid, PSG Talon
  • Play-In Teams: Beyond Gaming, Cloud9, DetonatioN FocusMe, Galatasaray Esports, Hanwha Life Esports, Infinity, LNG Esports, PEACE, RED Canids, Rogue, Unicorns of Love
